HEALTHY PLAY WORKSHOP OPTIONS

Healthy Play Training SessionAttending a Healthy Play training teaches all participants the necessary knowledge to successfully implement the program on the following day at their school. We have worked very hard to distill our concepts and information into a practical, eloquent, and simple format. Faculty will be able to easily duplicate this process with their own students.

Our step-by-step approach equips all participants with tools for using Healthy Play as effective classroom and playground management. Your staff will be able to support and enhance positive student social skills, reduce aggression and bullying, foster nurturing behaviors, promote cooperation and maximize involvement via 25 quality activities. Students will be able to learn and practice Healthy Play concepts daily. The training will also instruct teachers how to create and modify additional curriculum material.

Classroom consultations are available. In fact, many schools elect to have Healthy Play staff immediately initiate the Healthy Play process in your classes on the same day of your training. We gladly demonstrate our expertise in using this process while modeling many useful techniques for your staff to learn.

Additionally, the Healthy Play training is a warm, relaxing and stimulating team-building retreat. Approximately 75% or more of your time at the training will be spent doing “hands-on” activities with each other. You’ll all appreciate this enjoyable time together filled with bonding and laughter.

Of special note is the fact that we use less than fifty dollars in equipment. Excess expenses to purchase equipment are either not necessary or very minimal should you choose to duplicate our materials.

CLASSROOM/PLAYGROUND CONSULTATIONS:

Healthy Play consultingIndividual classroom and playground consultations provide focus on specific classroom and playground populations. These consultations can target problem areas or challenging classrooms as well as take identifiable classes and playground groups that are already demonstrating excellent response to Healthy Play methodologies to the next successful step. Individual classroom consults are done in 55 minute to one hour sessions.

Only one Healthy Play Trainer conducts classroom consults. Playground consults may require two HP trainers and fees will reflect that.

Business Seminars & Teambuilding

Team building at Healthy PlayOur business seminar, the Professional Applications of Play on Productivity is a seminar that focuses on creativity, humor and play as the foundation to improve personal and professional performance. Healthy Play programs guarantee laughter, build trust, support innovation, reduce stress while generating a lot of fun! We believe play and humor are the most natural and certainly the most enjoyable ways to accomplish any objective.

Healthy Play designs each program to meet your organization's goals while keeping focus on creating community and learning as we play. We use dozens of activities designed to help an individual experience a day of contentment and release while interacting effectively with co-workers. By putting the spirit of humor and play into the work place, cooperation increases and productivity soars!

Navigating Relationships*

Essential foundations for the art of empathy and courageous conversations

Navigating relationships workshopPersonal success is dependent upon how deeply we can connect with ourselves, others, and our communities. Student behavioral challenges that are brought to our attention as counselors, teachers, parents and youth-serving professionals almost all have a common thread of the lack of empathy and an inability to negotiate simple and complex relationships.

Our students now live in a world that often annihilates critical thinking, empathy, and face-to-face dialogue. This, in-turn, fosters isolation, extrinsic motivation, loss of joy and drive creating a pathway towards “sensation” but not “connection.”

However, the very good news is that when students feel deep genuine connections, with other students and the caring adults in their lives, they naturalistically gravitate towards wanting meaningful and healthy relationships.

All we need to do is gift them with simple foundational concepts on how to create healthy bonds and provide experiential opportunities for relevant and courageous conversations.

This is the key for personal happiness, optimizing life-long learning, empathy, and creating deep connections with others. More than ever, learning how to navigate relationships with a strong foundation of empathy is how we best prepare our students, not only through K- 12, but for college and post-secondary school life experiences.

Planning your Healthy Play Is A Solution Program

We require that you provide a large indoor space, (a cafeteria or gymnasium is ideal). The area should be free from furniture, etc. except for chairs for the participants. Access to a grassy outdoor area or basketball court is necessary, weather permitting. An amplifier will also be needed.

Participants should bring their sense of humor, and willingness to have fun. Comfortable casual clothing should be worn. Tennis shoes are highly recommended. Skirts and dresses may be sometimes awkward. Although there are many kinetic activities, our program is designed so that EVERYONE can participate to their own individual ability.

You are welcome to plan some sort of snacks or beverages but we encourage you to keep it simple. If planning a 6 hour single day training we encourage that everyone bring a lunch or that arrangements be made so that people can eat at the training site.

We are creative and flexible so please feel free to postulate your specific school’s needs. We may be able to develop something special if we know what you are looking to achieve. In some small school districts it may be possible to merge two schools together for a training.

Empathy

Empathy

Students who have empathy don't hurt or bully each other. Healthy Play internalizes compassion.
Self-regulation

Self-Regulation

Knowing what responsibility, caring, and respect are is not the same as "living" those skills. Healthy Play provides students opportunities to practice and act upon skills.

Problem Solving

Giving students opportunities to learn how to solve their problems peacefully creates the life-long ability to deal with conflict in a healthy manner. This also reduces unnecessary tattling behaviors as students learn to solve conflicts on their own without trying to turn the teacher into the arbitrator of insignificant conflicts.

Build Character

Character education is essential for students to develop an ethical core and follow a moral compass.

Reduce Bullying

Bullying does not need to be a “normal” part of childhood. Children who are frequently bullied are at risk of having anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, somatic symptoms, social withdrawal and lowered academic performance.

Social Emotional Learning

Social and emotional learning happens as children and adults acquire and apply the knowledge and skills to manage their emotions, self-regulate their behaviors, make sound decisions and create and continue positive relationships.
